Here’s a riddle for you.
Three little birds are sitting on a branch of a tree.
Two decide to fly away.
How many birds are left?
Answer: Three…..deciding and doing aren’t the same thing.
There’s a $20 Billion industry out there telling us how to be more successful. So you would expect to be falling over successful people on every street corner.
But the facts are that 1 in 4 of us will suffer some sort of mental illness during the course of our life and half the world’s wealth is owned by 2% of the population.
The problem is that when all is said and done, a lot more is said than done.
To paraphrase bestselling author and founder of Human Business Works, Chris Brogan, a “can do” attitude will take you so far, but what you also need is a “did do” attitude.
Whether its fear of failure, perfectionism, or procrastination, consistent action in the direction of your dreams will overcome these obstacles.
Action is everything.
The Latin word satis means enough. When you take enough action you’ll get satisfaction.

The Four Cats
Four men were bragging about how smart their cats were.
The first man was an Engineer, the second man an Accountant, the third a Chemist, and the fourth was a Trade Union Leader.
To show off, the Engineer called to his cat, "T-square, do your stuff."
T-square pranced over to the desk, took out some paper and pen and promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle.
Everyone agreed that was pretty smart.
But the Accountant said his cat could do better. He called his cat and said,
"Spreadsheet, do your stuff."
Spreadsheet went out to the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies. He divided them into 4 equal piles of 3 cookies.
Everyone agreed that was good.
But the Chemist said his cat could do better. He called his cat and said, "Measure, do your stuff."
Measure got up, walked to the fridge, took out a bottle of milk, got a glass from the cupboard and filled it to the top without spilling a drop.
Everyone agreed that was pretty good.
Then the three men turned to the Trade Union Leader who called his cat and said, "Coffee Break, do your stuff."
Coffee Break jumped to his feet…….
ate the cookies……..
drank the milk…….
sh*t on the paper…….
screwed the other three cats…….
claimed he injured his back while doing so…….
filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions…….
put in for Workers Compensation……………and
went home for the rest of the day on sick leave.

Let me give you two imaginary tasks.
Task A.
Walk from one end of a wooden beam to the other. The beam is on the floor and is twenty feet long, twelve inches thick and twelve inches wide.
How do you feel about the task: pretty straightforward? I guess you could do it without any hesitation?
Task B.
Walk along the same beam. This time the beam is suspended 100 feet above the pavement between two buildings.
How do you feel this time? Has the thought of falling entered your mind? Maybe a little fear, doubt and not quite so relaxed?
So where is your focus now? Has it shifted from being totally focussed on walking to the other end of the board?
If your focus has shifted by even one or two per cent, then you won’t have the optimum mindset to perform the task.

Research clearly shows that great performers can focus on their performance to the exclusion of everything else. They can engage so completely in the task at hand, that there simply isn’t any room for self-doubt, fear of failure or wanting to give up.
Any sense of self-doubt, or wanting to give up, is usually a signal that you need to get out of your own way and give more…..more energy, more commitment, more focus…..because it’s only the focussed who flourish.

The 10 Commandments of Charismatic people……

In an excess economy attention is scarce. If you don’t get noticed you’re out. In order to thrive in this hyper competitive environment you need to get personal and become a magnet for people’s hearts and minds.
It’s often thought that in order to have a magnetic personality you have to be an extrovert or naturally charismatic. This simply isn’t true.
The key to capturing your audience’s attention is to first pay attention to them and remember that two monologues don’t make a dialogue.
Of course, we can all think of people who are naturally appealing or charismatic, but can you think of a person who cares about you, understands you and who always helps you, that you don’t like?
One of the most magnetic people I know is an introvert who cares about everyone she meets. She’s a great listener and always says something that’s interesting, valuable, or which makes you feel good. You won’t hear her complaining, tellinyou how great she is (and she really is very successful) or putting others down.
Here are the 10 Commandments of Charismatic people. Charismatic people,
1. Are grateful for your time and attention
2. Focus on you and not themselves
3. Ask engaging questions
4. Actively listen – guys, when it comes to your better half, apparently nodding your head feigning interest isn’t enough! She needs to have the experience of being listened to and feel that she’s been heard.
5. Are helpful
6. Like to have fun
7. Are positive
8. Don’t take themselves too seriously
9. Are open to new ideas
10. Are honest
If you’ve got a great attitude towards other people, then they’ll want to hear what you have to say and spend time with you.
A bad attitude on the other hand is like bad breath: if you have one, people will avoid you and they probably won’t tell you why.
