When asked why he named his racing yacht "Tenacious", media mogul and founder of CNN, Ted Turner replied, "It’s the story of my life. I don’t quit. I don’t surrender. There are a whole bunch of flags on my boat, but the one thing that you won’t find is a white flag."

It turns out that Churchill’s, "Never, never, never give up," was more than just a platitude.

Extensive research by Professor Angela Lee Duckworth shows that more than IQ, talent or any other factor, the No. 1 predictor of a person’s success is their unflagging commitment to a long-term goal, or as she says, their grit.

In short, no grit in life = no pearl in life.

It’s why having a backbone is far more important than a wishbone.

When we’re born, our innate intelligence helps us to master complicated tasks like walking and talking. Imagine if we had all given up learning to walk the first few times we had fallen over. The human species would have failed to evolve and we would live in a world of humans shuffling around the floor on their backsides.

Our natural mindset. The one we’re born with, is to keep going ….. one step at a time. The problem is, that as we grow older, the clean slate of capability that we’re born with becomes covered in other people’s

Wipe you’re slate clean and keep going.

Never ever give up. Never quit. Because as General Douglas MacArthur said, "Age may wrinkle your body, but quitting will wrinkle your soul."

A teacher asks her class, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Little Johnny says "I wanna be a billionaire, going to the most expensive clubs, take the best bitch with me, give her a Ferrari, an apartment in New York, a mansion in London, a jet to travel the world, and an Infinite Visa Card to shop for the finest threads in Milan".

The teacher, completely shocked and taken aback, decides that it’s best to ignore Little Johnny’s reply.

Still a little flustered the teacher turns to the next student and asks, "And you, Susie. What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"I wanna be Johnny’s bitch," replies Susie.
