Adventures in Awesome Living

by Sunil Bali, Chief Energy Officer, 31-07-11

When I go away on holiday, I like to be away and not worry about anything or anyone back in blighty.

In order to be away when I’m away, I conduct a mental floss before getting on the plane.

Despite good mental hygiene, I normally find that there are one or two mental plaques that need to be removed before I go on holiday. This time, I’ve decided to remove two negative and rather draining people from my network as well as increase my focus on the project that matters most to me i.e., finish writing 2 books by the end of this year.

I’ve also expressed my gratitude to some people who continue to inspire and energise me and who help me to shine. When I return from vacation I’ll increase the time that I spend with these wonderful, authentic and passionate people.

When it comes to inspiration and gratitude, it doesn’t get much better than the tribute given by Andre Agassi to his wife Steffi Graf when she was inducted to the tennis hall of fame:
A Champion on and Off the Court

Tony Schwartz, one of the world’s leading performance psychologists and Chief Energy Officer’s, has extensively researched why personal energy management is infinitely more powerful than time management as a tool to achieve happiness and fulfilment.

You can read an excellent summary of the core principles of personal energy management in his article for Harvard Business Review:
Manage your Energy, Not your Time
